Extended incarceration for former housing minister

The head of the Illicit Profiteering Authority has orderd that Maghrabi remain in custody, pending further investigations into the former housing minister's wealth

Assem Gohary, head of the Illicit Profiteering Authority, ordered the extension of the former minister of housing Ahmed Maghrabi’s incarceration by 15 days pending further investigations.

Maghrabi is being investigated on counts of corruption and the use of his position to further personal and familial interests. His assets are valued in the millions and include shares in Palm Hills. 

Those behind the allegations also point to the fact that he is a shareholder and founder of over 20 companies that work in the areas of tourism, agriculture and real estate. He also owns 147 hectares of land in Wadi Natroun and other properties in Giza, Aswan and Hurghada.
