Egyptian conscript severely injured as unidentified assailants shot him in Central Sinai early Saturday

A police conscript has been severely injured early Saturday as a group of unidentified assailants shot him in Central Sinai, Aswat Masriya reported.

Sources said that 21-year-old conscript Mostafa Hassan was transferred to Al-Arish hospital.  

Militant attacks on police and military have been commonplace since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last summer.

Hundreds of policemen and army soldiers have been killed in militant attacks, including bombings and shootings.
