Eygpt's former minister of interior, Habib El-Adly, was sentenced today to 12 years in prison for profiteering; other charges are pending

Former minister of interior Habib El-Adly has been sentenced to 12 years in prison early this morning by the Giza Criminal Court on corruption charges of using his position to gain profits illegally.

The court also ordered that all his assets be frozen.

El-Adly is also being tried for other abuses, including intentionally killing peaceful protesters; damaging public and private property, which harmed the nation’s economy; creating a security vacuum by ordering the police to evacuate and reportedly set fire to their own buildings during the revolution; and terrorizing citizens by letting loose thugs.
