Heavy rain disrupted traffic and nautical activity in northern Egypt on Monday night through Tuesday morning.

Borolos Fishing Port in Kafr El-Sheikh in the Nile Delta was closed following bad weather and heavy rain, state news agency MENA reported. All nautical and fishing activities have been halted in the area.

Water also flooded the streets in Borolos, Sidi Salem and Matbous, all in Kafr El-Sheikh.

In Damietta, rain affected fishing activities in Al-Manzala Lake and the Mediterranean Sea.

Egypt's Meteorological Authority said on its official Facebook page that rain fell in several parts of the Nile Delta, North Sinai, and Marsa Matrouh on the Mediterranean coast.

Users posted photos and videos of rainfall on the authority's page, as the country saw the first hints of winter following a long, hot summer marred by lengthy power cuts.

The authority also said that temperatures nationwide are inclined to coolness.
