Ahram Online, Wednesday 12 Nov 2014

One man has been killed and another injured in a motorbike accident on Cairo’s ring road Wednesday, Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The motorbike reportedly exploded on the ring road, which circles the capital, near Al-Waraq area.

Security sources said the bikers were carrying an explosive device that set off. Police said they apprehended the injured suspect as he attempted to flee the scene.

Egypt has been suffering an increasung wave of militants attacks over the past year and a half against security forces, with assailants often using motorbikes in hit and run operations.

Civilians too have been caught up in the violence.

On Saturday, a hand grenade was thrown by an unknown assailant at the Faculty of Dentistry at Cairo University.

A small bomb also went off near the Al-Qobba presidential palace in Cairo on Thursday.

No casualties were reported in these incidents. However, earlier in October a bomb exploded outside Cairo University, injuring 11.
