Five people were sentenced to life in the Nile Delta city of Damietta after being found guilty of kidnapping a prosecutor for ransom last May.

The sentenced had kidnapped the prosecutor while he was driving on the Port Said-Damietta highway and demanded his family pay LE1 million for his release, Egypt’s state news agency MENA reported.

The assailants confessed the details of their crime in investigations by the prosecution, MENA said.
