Following sectarian clashes in Imbaba, Cairo, which left ten killed and 186 injured, presidential hopeful Mohamed ElBaradei commented on his Twitter account that “urgent measures [are] required to combat religious extremism & intolerance before Egypt slides into the dark ages.”
Riots erupted in the Imbaba district of Cairo on Saturday late night in front of Mary Mina Church. Muslims, mostly reportedly Salafists, were protesting due to rumours that women that have converted to Islam have been held captive by the church.
Sectarian clashes have been increasing after Egyptians ousted the former president, Mubarak and his regime.
