A low-ranking police officer and his family were injured Friday afternoon after an explosion targeted his house in Al-Arish, the capital of North Sinai governorate, reported Al-Ahram Arabic news.
According to security sources, 40-year-old Sami Dousky was injured along with his wife and their children while they were in their home in the El-Sabeel district in the city of Al-Arish. They were transferred to a local hospital to receive treatment.
It is not clear who is behind the explosion, but attacks orchestrated by militant groups have become commonplace in North Sinai since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
Hundreds of police and army personnel have been killed in the attacks, and hundreds of suspected militants have also been killed in security raids.
