Mubarak-era ministers Habib El-Adly and Ahmed Nazif are facing a retrial in the so-called 'licence plates' case

Cairo Criminal Court on Monday postponed until 24 February its verdict in the retrial of former interior minister Habib El-Adly and former prime minister Ahmed Nazif.

The two face charges of corruption in the "license plates" case.

They were accused in April 2011 of awarding a LE92 million contract for the manufacture of licence plates to a German firm without putting it up for public tender as stipulated by law.

In the original trial Nazif received a one-year suspended sentence and El-Adly five years.

The retrial was ordered after El-Adly appealed the verdict.
