Mohamed Abdel Wareth, a former member of parliament allegedly opened fire on his extended family and ordinary citizens who were trying to mediate their internal family feud

Tens are injured in Mina El-Basal, Alexandria, Egypt after Mohamed Abdel Wareth, former upper house Shura Council member and member of the disbanded National Democratic Party (NDP), opened fire in Alexandria, which continued until early morning.

Abdel Wareth, his children and extended family argued with citizens, then brandished knives and other rudimentary weapons and escalated it to firing live weapons, shooting randomly according to eyewinesses.

Several were injured and sent to the university hospital.
