Arish demonstrates ahead of Nakba Day march to Palestine

Following Friday prayers today, thousands took to the streets in the Northen Sinai city of Arish in support of the planned march to Palestine planned for 15 May in memory of Nakba Day. Arish is the nearest city to the border town of Rafah.

The demonstrations started from Al-Rifai mosque and proceeded through the July 23 Street. The protesters chanted slogans for the liberation of Jerusalem and Palestine while waving Palestinian and Egyptian flags.

For the past several days, residents in Arish have been stocking up on essentials fearing that the expected march to Gaza will impact the availability of goods. Masses are expected to pass through the city and even stay there for some time.
