Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi praised the "martyrs" who were killed during the 2011 uprising, speaking on Saturday, the eve of the fourth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution.

In a speech that was televised late on Saturday, El-Sisi stressed that the blood spilled, whether that of the injured or the deceased, is a motive to move forward and exert efforts for the sake of the country.

"To fulfill the demands of the revolution, bread, freedom, and social justice, there must be a revolution inside us that shall push us forward in all fields," El-Sisi said.

More than 800 people were killed during the 18 day uprising.

El-Sisi also took the opportunity to reflect on the death of late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, who died early on Friday.

"Arabs and Muslims lost the man of wisdom," he commented.

Seven days of mourning were declared in Egypt to mark the monarch's passing.
