Five died and 32 were injured in a bus crash in Egypt’s Beheira governorate in the Nile Delta on Monday, according to the Ahram Arabic news website.
Officials have yet to investigate the reason behind the accident.
All injured where transferred to the Wadi El-Natroun hospital. Around 20 of the injured have been hospitalised and are out, while critical cases remain in hospital, the hospital’s head Ahmed Abdel Khalek told Ahram Arabic.
Last November, also in Beheira, a school bus carrying students from Kafr El-Dawar's Al-Orman Hotel and Tourism High School collided with a private vehicle and a truck carrying wheat, leaving at least 18 dead and 18 others injured.
Road accidents are recurrent across Egypt due to lack of road maintenance and loosely implemented traffic laws.
A recent government report said that 100,000 car accidents took place in Egypt from 2008 to 2012, with 33,000 killed and another 150,000 injured.
In 2012, a train crashed into a school bus, killing over 50 students in Assiut, Upper Egypt, sparking anger nationwide.
