Two people were killed in a car crash south of Cairo late Saturday, the latest in near daily traffic accidents plaguing Egypt's roads
Three others were wounded in the accident that occurred on a motorway in Upper Egypt’s Sohag governorate when two private cars collided, Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The victims were ferried to a local hospital in Sohag.
Hundreds die and thousands are injured every year in Egyptian crashes, often caused by poorly maintained roads and reckless driving.
Egypt, the world’s most populous Arab country, is notorious for its poor road safety record where traffic regulations are loosely enforced.
Almost two weeks ago, 10 people were killed in a bus collision in the city.
