Russian President Vladimir Putin is to arrive in Cairo on Monday for a two-day visit, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The Russian president will discuss with his Egyptian counterpart bilateral relations between Cairo and Moscow.

Both presidents are expected to discuss regional matters related to Syria, Libya, Yemen and the Arab-Israeli conflict, AFP reported.

It is also expected that they will sign a commerce deal and that an agreement will be signed between a Russian agency and Al-Ahram news organisation, according to AFP.

"I am convinced that a multi-faceted dialogue between Russia and Egypt will continue to deepen and expand for the benefit of the peoples of our countries, for the sake of peace and stability in the Middle East and North Africa," said Putin in an interview with Al-Ahram daily newspaper published by the Kremlin on Monday.

Hundreds of posters were hung in main streets around Cairo, with words of welcome written in Arabic, English and Russian.

Putin last visited Egypt in 2005 when Hosni Mubarak was president.

El-Sisi visited Moscow twice over the past year, first as defence minister in February, then as president in August.

A preliminary arms deal worth $3.5 billion was reached between both countries last September, Interfax news agency had reported.
