Two small bombs exploded early Sunday on the railway in Kafr El-Zayat City, halting train movements between Cairo and Alexandria.
A maintenance team is repairing the track, local council leader Ahmed El-Shenawy told Aswat Masriya.
The explosions also affected train movement in other parts of the Nile Delta.
Explosives experts have been combing the area to ensure there are no other devices.
Stoppages in railway services due to the discovery of small bombs or their detonation have been common since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
