Twenty five activists and journalists detained during nakba day demonstrations in front of the Israeli Embassy took suspended sentences at military trials today. The demonstrations turned ugly when military police and Central Security Forces broke up the protest, arresting 135 activists.
Fifteen were sentenced to one year and 10 were sentenced to six months. All sentences have been suspended and activists are to be released tonight or tomorrow, according to Mona Saif, a rights activist with the No Military Trials movement.
Several protests, supporting the detainees took place this week.
