The country will be hit by a wave of hot weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures expected to rise by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius higher than average at this time of the year, meteorologists told state news agency MENA.

On Tuesday, the weather is predicted to be hot in Cairo, reaching 34 degrees Celsius (93.2 F), 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 F) on Wednesday, and dropping to 23 degrees (73.4 F) on Thursday, Wahid Saudi, spokesperson for the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), told Ahram Online.

The wave will be broken by a plunge in temperatures on Thursday, he said, adding that the forecast for Sham El-Nessim holidays is yet to be released.

He said that a sand storm will hit the country on Thursday and Friday.

This will lead to poor visibility on roads and turbulence in navigation in the Mediterranean Sea, according to MENA.

At night, it will tend to be cold in coastal cities, Cairo and the Canal cities.

Medium and low clouds will appear on Tuesday and Wednesday, coupled by light to moderate wind that is mostly southern-western.

The Mediterranean Sea will be unstable and the waves rise to two to three meters. As for the Red Sea, it is moderate and the wave will reach from one to two meters high.
