The fire broke out at the Ministry of Supply in Downtown Cairo, leaving no casualties

A fire broke out Sunday afternoon at the Ministry of Supply building in central Cairo, leaving no casualties, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Five fire vehicles were dispatched to the area to extinguish the fire that sent flames rising into the sky and disrupted traffic in Downtown Cairo's throughfare of Kasr El-Aini Street.

The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the 10-storey building. Three storeys were evacuated as efforts were underway to put out the blaze.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.

The Ministry of Supply is responsible for basic and supply commodities, their quality and subsidies.
