16 students injured in a drive-by shooting in Egypt's Damanhour

Sixteen students at an industrial high school in Egypt's Nile Delta Beheira governorate were injured in a birdshot-drive-by shooting by unknown assailants, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The students, who did not suffer any life-threatening injuries, were treated at Damanhour General Hospital before they were discharged.

The prosecution in Beheira investigating the incident will listen to the testimonies of the students, Yasser Zidan, Al-Ahram journalist reported from Beheira.

The head of the police investigations authorities in Beheira, Khaled Abdel Hamid, said that according to initial findings the shooting was a criminal incident due to a fight between the students.
