A conscript was injured early Monday in an attack on a security checkpoint on the Ismailia – Suez road, state news agency MENA reported.
Unknown assailants in a vehicle opened fire at the checkpoint located near Abu Sultan village, Ismailia, injuring the 22-year-old conscript.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Islamist militants have attacked security forces at camps and at checkpoints since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
On Saturday, a policeman was injured in a bomb explosion near a court complex in Assiut city in Upper Egypt.
Last week, four army soldiers were killed near Rafah, North Sinai, in a roadside bomb explosion.
