The Astronomy and Geophysics Institute has announced that the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in Egypt will be on Friday.

In a statement to the state news agency MENA, institute head Ashraf Tadaros said the holy month of Ramadan would last 29 days, according to the position of the moon.

Eid Al-Fitr, a three-day religious holiday celebrated by Muslims, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The cabinet announced on Tuesday that ministries and governmental authorities will close for four days, from 17 to 20 July.
