Three more people died of heat related causes Saturday, bringing the total death toll of the current heat wave in Egypt to 95, the health ministry said.

The majority of Saturday's casualties were elderly people, a health ministry statement highlighted, adding that 206 others were taken to hospitals and diagnosed with heat exhaustion.

The health ministry also said that 129 were discharged in stable health after receiving treatment.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), Egypt's official weather agency, issued a warning about Sunday, saying the country will experience "extremely hot weather."

On Sunday, EMA expects Cairo to see a high of 42 degrees Celsius and a low of 26. The coastal city of Alexandria is expected to experience a high of 35 and a low of 24 degrees.

For the Red Sea cities of Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada, they are expecting to witness temperatures of 42 and 44 respectively.

August is normally a hot month in Egypt, but temperatures have been higher than average over the past few days, soaring to 47 degrees Celsius (117 degrees Fahrenheit) in Upper Egypt governorates and 40 degrees Celsius (110 degrees Fahrenheit) in Cairo.

According to the EMA, the current heat wave will end by 20 August.

The health ministry advises the elderly, the sick, and children to avoid direct exposure to the sun, in being the most vulnerable to sunstroke.
