In an exclusive interview with Russian news agency, TASS, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi said his counterpart President Putin is well aware of the situation in the Middle East, and emphasized that, “a common global strategy is needed to fight against this evil."

"I consider that President Putin understands very well the situation in the Middle East," he said, adding, “he is well aware of dangers in this region and, in particular, the danger of terrorism that threatens the entire region and may have negative consequences for the whole world.”

El-Sisi also mentioned that major issues on the Russian-Egyptian discussion table are economic cooperation and the importance of coordination in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

“A common global strategy is needed and all countries should fight against this evil," also warning that "the map of terrorism and extremism is spreading."

On economic cooperation, El-Sisi stated in his interview that Russian investors would be offered the best terms if they were to work in the Suez Canal region.

"We have opened a new Suez Canal," El-Sisi said. "Somebody may think that the opening of the route will be enough. However, it is another step in the grand project in the development of the region as a whole." also adding "We are allocating an industrial zone for Russia in this region."

 "We are inviting Russian companies to participate and work in this region. This zone has been offered for investors," the President added.

The Egyptian President also said that Egypt was considering the possibility of using the Russian currency ‘ruble’ in settlements in the scope of tourism.

"We are ready to use the ruble and the Egyptian pound in mutual settlements in this sphere [tourism] to avoid problems that now emerge with the dollar exchange rate,” El-Sisi said.

 "We are making huge efforts to expand the tourism infrastructure that the Russian tourists could use and we try to diversify services offered to tourists."

Russian tourism in Egypt has been steadily growing in the past four years, with three million Russian tourists visiting Egypt’s Red Sea in 2014 and the number is expected to increase by the end of 2015, according to a statement by minister of tourism Khaled Rami in May.

President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi ended his three-day visit to Russia on Moscow where he met King Abdullah of Jordan and Russian president Vladimir Putin. He is expected to start his tour of Asia on Saturday where he will visit Singapore, China, and Indonesia.
