Investigative authorities have honed in on Zakaria Azmy's large property assets

The North Cairo Court has renewed the detention of Mubarak’s former chief of staff Zakaria Azmy for another 45 days, pending investigation.

Azmy is being investigated by the Illicit Profiteering Authority on charges of using his position to illegally accumulate wealth. Investigations by the authority have revealed that Azmy owns various agricultural and non-agricultural land, as well as real estate properties across the country. The value of these assets, according to the authority, far exceed the income Azmy was earning from his post and signify that he may have been using his position to increase his wealth.
