A photo of a previous pipeline explosion
The natural gas station located west of Arish exploded in the Monday early hours.
The blast caused the station to catch on fire, as well as the pipeline that passes through Sinai and extends to Israel and Jordan, which was attacked twice earlier this year.
The internal pipeline was also damaged, causing a natural gas outage in Arish. No casualties have been reported thus far, according to Egyptian TV.
Firefighters put out the flames after several hours.
Many Egyptians have been protesting against exporting natural gas to Israel since toppled President Hosni Mubarak’s tenure.
The culprits behind the previous pipeline bombings were never found.
