Eleven police conscripts were injured on Wednesday in a blast that targeted a tank in North Sinai’s Al-Arish, state news agency MENA reported.
Security sources said that a bomb detonated while the tank was patrolling Al-Zohoor neighbourhood, injuring 11 police conscripts.
The conscripts sustained minor injuries, according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website.
Following the blast, security forces combed surrounding areas for more bombs.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Egypt has been facing an Islamist insurgency that has primarily targeted policemen and security installations that increased since the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
