Attack by unknown assailants leaves three protesters in hospital

During Thursday night, protesters in Port Said's Al Manshiyya Square were attacked by unknown assailants wielding swords and knives. At least 14 protesters were injured in the attack, including a 12-year-old boy who suffered knife wounds. Three protesters were transferred to the city's general hosptial while the remaining wounded were treated in the sit-in's field hospital.

The protesters regained control of the square when more protesters joined them, enabling security to be tightened.

The army and police did not interfere in the clashes between the attackers and protesters.

Activists and protesters are staging the sit-in in Al Manshiyya Square in solidarity with the protesters of Tahrir Square and the city of Suez.
