Association accuse some Revolution Coordinating Committee members of slandering demonstrators and falsely claim to represent the Tahrir sit-in

The National Association for Change (NAC) has declared its withdrawal from the Revolution Coordinating Committee. The committee includes several groups, the biggest of which are the Muslim Brotherhood, the Revolution Trustees Committee and the Revolution Youth Coalition.

The NAC withdrew objecting that some of the Coordinating Committee members have used the committee’s name to attack and incite against revolutionaries, demonstrators and strikers.

The NAC denied that any such sentiments represented the group’s stand and has demanded that official bodies like the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces directly communicate with the NAC or with bodies that enjoy popular legitimacy.

The NAC also added that it encourages the formation of coalitions and fronts between the different political and revolutionary forces, and has therefore joined the committee currently coordinating security and stage management in the ongoing sit-in in Tahrir Square. However, the NAC warned that some members of the Coordinating Committee have been misusing the name of the committee to incite against revolutionaries and communicate with Prime Minister Essam Sharaf claiming to represent the Tahrir sit-in without actually having stepped foot in the square.

The NAC has expressed its respect for other members of the committee and to independents.
