Egypt has strongly condemned a bomb attack that targeted military vehicles in Turkey's capital Ankara on Wednesday, killing 28 people.

"Egypt condemns in the strongest terms the bombing which took place in Ankara on Wednesday," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Egypt "reiterates calls for concerted efforts by the international community to combat the deplorable phenomenon" of terrorism, ministry spokesperson, Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Relations between Egypt and Turkey soured following the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi, with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan emerging as one of the fiercest international critics of the ouster.
