With stronger security preparations for the courtroom, the trial of Suez's security director and his assistants for the premeditated murder of protesters in Suez will continue as of Wednesday, 14 September.

The trial will take place in Cairo, and defendants include former security director of the governorate of Suez and 13 other police officials and other low-ranking police personnel, along with a businessman and his three sons, some of which are still fugitives and will be tried in absentia.

Last month, security forces were able to capture one of the accused, who had escaped with one of his sons. The two alone are directly accused of murdering 18 protesters.

The first martyr of the January 25th revolution died in Suez in the wake of the uprising.
