Major General Mohamed Ismail, head of the anti-trafficking General Administration of Food Supply, put the nationwide shortage of petroleum and diesel down to the smuggling of fossil fuels into Gaza.
Lately, a shortage of benzene and diesel in several Egyptian governorates has been repeatedly reported.
Ismail explained that fossil fuels have been constantly smuggled from Egypt to Gaza through tunnels and small fishing boats.
