Youth and activist groups say SCAF failed to improve life, and are organizing "Friday in the service of the people" campaigns to connect with citizens in communities and make improvements

A collection of political parties and groups have announced the launch of a new initiative, The Revolution in the Service of the People, to be held on Friday 23 September 2011.

The initiative calls on youth to volunteer and take part in public community services in the tri-governorate area of Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia.

Among the political parties and groups participating in the initiative are: 6 April Youth Movement - Ahmed Maher Front, El-Adl Party, the National Association for Change, the Democratic Front Party, the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, ElBaradei Popular Support Group and the Revolution Ultras.

According to the campaign's event announcement on Facebook page, participants will organise medical convoys, clean and beautify the streets, organise traffic, and teach people how to form public checkpoints to combat the lack of security.

The initiative will also include political awareness campaigns as well visits to the families of martyrs and the injured in the January 25 uprising against ousted president Mubarak.

The organisers of the initiative say that the government and SCAF have failed to achieve radical changes in the seven months since the revolution started and, therefore, next Friday, the youth and activists will hit the streets to hear the people’s complaints and to try to help them organise.
