Former member of parliament Abdel Nasser El Gabry accused of hiring thugs to attack protesters in the infamous Battle of the Camel saga at Tahrir square on 2 February 2011 has passed away today. 

The former NDP member and businessman died from cancer at the international medical center in Cairo.

El Gabry was transferred from two months ago to the center after cancer spread in his body while he was in jail and standing trial in the case.
