A three-vehicle crash in Egypt's Daqahliya governorate, Nile Delta, on Monday resulted in the death of 22 people and injuring of 11 others, Al-Ahram Arabic website reported.

A minibus' tyre blew near Bashla village, causing it to collide with another minibus and a microbus, state news MENA reported.

The injured have been transported to three nearby hospitals.

Deadly road crashes take place on a daily basis in Egypt, largely due to poor road safety, badly maintained infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations.

In 2015, a total 14,548 road accidents were recorded by Egypt's official statistics agency.
