Sudan has said that Egyptian authorities arrested 70 Sudanese nationals attempting to illegally enter Israel.
Foreign ministry spokesman Gharib Allah Khidir said Saturday the nationals were stopped and detained in a Cairo prison.
He added in a report carried by the SUNA news agency that the Sudanese embassy is in contact with Egyptian security authorities to follow up on the conditions and treatment of the detainees.
There was no immediate confirmation of the arrests by the Egyptian government.
In November 2015, Egyptian border guards killed five Sudanese migrants attempting to cross illegally into Israel from Egypt's North Sinai, Egypt's military said at the time.
