El-Karama Party may quit Democratic Alliance for Egypt before upcoming elections

El-Karama may withdraw from the Democratic Alliance for Egypt as it is still unable to reach an agreement over the electoral joint lists with the other parties

A Karama Party political office member, Amin Eskandar, says he is not optimistic ‎over the possibility of cooperation with the parties of the Democratic Alliance for Egypt ‎during next month’s parliamentary elections.

El-Karama’s political office held a lengthy meeting on Friday to discuss and name their ‎terms to remain part of the alliance during the elections.‎

According to Eskandar, El-Karama is yet to reach an agreement over the order of its ‎candidates on the joint lists. ‎He believes that it is unlikely that they can work out an accord.

Recently, Wafd and the Nasserist Parties decided to withdraw from the alliance. The ‎former party opted to have separate electoral lists after a disagreement with the Freedom and Justice party (the ‎Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing and current member of the alliance) over the distribution and number of candidates between the two ‎sides.‎
