Worker says top official of Egypt-Iran Spinning and Weaving Company to blame for blockage designed to provoke army intervention against striking employees

The Egyptian army has reopened the Suez-Cairo highway after workers from the Egypt-Iran Spinning and Weaving Company had blocked the road.

A worker at the company, Ayman Khodeir, accused a top official at the company of blocking the highway in order to force the army to intervene, end the strike and force workers to resume work. It is not yet known why the workers were on strike.

The blocked road led to heavy traffic congestion in the area, leading drivers to demand the army reopen the highway.
