Prominent Muslim Brotherhood leader, Mohamed Saad El-Katatni, says the killing of Libyan ousted leader Muammar Gaddafi represents “another victory for the will of the Arab people over tyranny.”

“No matter how powerful a tyrant’s regime becomes, it will eventually fall should it get into a battle with the people,” he said.

“Gaddafi’s death sent one last message to dictators, which is ‘you won’t spill the blood of your own people and go unpunished’.”

As he congratulated the Libyan people on the death of Gaddafi, El-Katatni, who is the Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party, called on them to build a “free democratic Libya.”

He also stressed the oil-rich country should strengthen ties with neighbouring nations, including Egypt.

Gaddafi was killed on Thursday when Libyan fighters, whom he had scorned as "rats" in the early days of the revolution, overran his last redoubt in his hometown of Sirte.

“The killing of Gaddafi brings back hope to all the Arab Revolutions,” added El-Katatni.

Moreover, El-Katatni heaped praise on the Syrian and Yemeni revolutionaries who are still struggling to topple autocratic presidents Bashar Al-Assad and Ali Abdullah Saleh respectively.
