Egypt's Court of Cassation has upheld a death sentence for Adel Habara, the Sinai Islamist militant convicted of killing a police detective in Sharqiya governorate in 2012.
The court's ruling on Monday is the final ruling in the trial and cannot be appealed.
The sentence still needs to be ratified by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi before being implemented in accordance with the law.
The sentence must also be reviewed by the country's Grand Mufti, though his recommendation to the court is not legally binding.
On Saturday, the same court rejected Habara's final appeal against another death sentence for plotting the execution-style killing of 25 soldiers in an ambush in August 2013.
Habara, who gained notoriety over his reported involvement in the attack, is appealing yet another death sentence for his role in a major 2012 attack in North Sinai that left 16 soldiers dead.
