Egypt's northern city of Alexandria witnessed strong showers and a drop in temperatures early on Monday morning, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The strong rains flooded some of the city's streets causing traffic jams. A sewage company sent cars to pump out the water flooding the streets.

On Saturday, the Alexandria Port Authority shut down the Alexandriai and Dakheila ports due to bad weather conditions, state news agency MENA reported.

Egypt has been experiencing cold weather across the country for the past three weeks.
