Egypt's Sisi meets with national team footballer Mohamed Salah

Sisi praised Salah for his donation to the Long Live Egypt Fund, wished him good luck in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met Monday with Egyptian National football team player Mohamed Salah, who has donated to the presidential Long Live Egypt Fund, the presidency said in a statement.

Minister of Youth and Sports Khaled Abdel-Aziz attended the meeting.

The Long Live Egypt Fund was established by El-Sisi in 2014 to solicit donations in support of Egypt's development.

According to the statement, El-Sisi praised Salah for his donation, appreciating the social role of sportsmen who set a positive example for the whole of society.

The president wished good luck to the foreign-based Salah and his national team’s fellows during the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to begin 14 January in Gabon.

The 24-year old Salah has been one of AS Roma's top performers since he joined the squad from English side Chelsea in August 2015, attracting attention with a series of outstanding performances.

The Pharaohs winger has scored eight goals with the Italian club so far this season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions in 2016.
