Ahead of the Eid Al-Adha Islamic holiday, Egypt's ruling military council releases 334 citizens convicted by military trials

In a message on its official facebook page, Egypt's ruling military council said that it will grant amnesty to 334 Egyptians who “have received final verdicts from military courts,”.

In it announcement, Communiqué No 77, the military council added that the identities of the prisoners would be announced shortly.

According to the "No to Military Trials for Civilians" campaign, the estimated number of civilians who have received military verdicts ranges between 7000 and 8000 (up until latest estimates on 31 August), and the latest estimates on the number of civilians who have faced military prosecution since the army took power last February has reached more than 12,000.
