Egypt's prosecution office in Menoufiya governorate ordered the release of a traffic officer accused of shooting a tuk-tuk driver on Tuesday pending investigation.
The incident involved a traffic officer firing two bullets at a tuk-tuk driver, after the latter tried to escape a checkpoint set up to examine driver documents in Shebin-El Koum city.
The driver was transferred to hospital after being injured by a bullet underneath his left eye.
The officer was arrested following the incident and later released on EGP 5,000 bail pending investigation.
