Small protest in Tahrir demands military council hands over power

Ahram Online, Friday 11 Nov 2011

A small protest erupted today in Tahrir Square, demanding that the military council transfers power to a civil authority by next April.

The protesters included members of the April 6 Youth Movement.

They also criticised the military council for not taking a firmer stand in reacquiring the misappropriated funds and assets belonging to members of the former regime.

Protesters’ anger was also directed at a number of Egyptian officials who testified in favour of ousted president Hosni Mubarak at the latter’s trial. Among the targeted figures were de-facto military ruler Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman and Minister of Interior Mansour El-Eissawy who all shifted the blame away from the deposed president.
