The Coptic Patriarchate in Cairo will hold a ceremony in celebration of 40 years since the inauguration of Egypt’s Pope Shenouda III.
Coptic Patriarchs from Ethiopia, Syria and Lebanon will attend the ceremony, which will be hosted at the Coptic Patriarchate headquarters in the district of Abbasiya.
The number of attendees is expected to be around 10,000, where the ceremony starts at 6pm and is expected to last for three hours.
The ceremony was at first cancelled after deadly clashes in the Maspero protest on 9 October which left at least 26 — mostly Copts — dead, but the Church put it back on schedule, in what some interpret as an open statement.
