Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said in talks on Monday with King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain that the security of the Arab Gulf region was part of Egypt’s own national security.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, the two leaders discussed Egyptian-Bahraini relations and how to bolster them in both economic and national security fields.

El-Sisi and Hamad also discussed regional developments, agreeing on the importance of reaching political settlements in conflict zones like Libya.

After the talks, King Hamad decorated the Egyptian President with the Order of Sheikh Isa Al-Khalifa -- the highest Bahraini order -- for what he said was Egypt’s continuous support and the Egyptian president's efforts to increase cooperation between the two countries and unite the Arab people.

El-Sisi arrived in Bahrain on Monday from Kuwait after a two-day visit during which he met with Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and other top officials.
