Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II met with Queen Elizabeth II of the UK for the first time on Tuesday in a “historic visit” at Windsor Castle, British ambassador to Cairo John Casson announced on his Twitter account.
Casson said in another tweet that both Queen Elizabeth and the Egyptian pope have extensive experience and wisdom in regards to coexistence in an ever-changing world.
Queen Elizabeth II is the supreme governor of the Church of England.
Pope Tawadros II headed to the UK from Milan after a short visit to Italy, and will spend several days in the UK, according to the Coptic Orthodox Church.
