Egyptian pharmacist wins Ontario Pharmacists Association award

Egyptian pharmacist Sherif Guorgui has been named the 2017 Voice of Pharmacy Award winner by the Ontario Pharmacists Association in Canada.

Guorgui is one of the 11 recipients of the 2017 OPA Award, as announced on the association's website.

Other awards included the Exceptional Achievement in Research and Academia Award, the Outstanding Pharmacy Technician Award, the Achievement in Specialised Practice Award, and the Pharmacist of the Year Award.

Guorgui has been CEO of Ontario-based United Pharma Group since 2016.

He has served as president of the Ontario College of Pharmacists and vice president of Pharmacy Practice of the Ontario Pharmacists Association.

Guorgui received his pharmacy degree from Cairo University and completed the International Pharmacy Graduates programme in Canada's University of Toronto.
