The Egyptian embassy in Berlin has announced that it has received a total of 1,327 votes from Egyptians living in Germany.
Only 609 were validated by the embassy; the rest contained voting errors and were disqualified during the tallying process.
Voting results will be submitted to the Egyptian Supreme Elections Committee via the foreign ministry, and the results will be announced in Egypt.
Egyptian expatriates were granted their voting rights following a lawsuit in October. Egypt’s ruling military council declared a new law in November which regulates expatriate voting in elections and referenda.
Voting for Egyptian expatriates started on Thursday, a few days before the first day of elections in the country on Monday 28 November.
